Jamie Carragher believes spending big on transfers doesn`t guarantee success for Chelsea.


Chelsea were worth ?323m in the January transfer window - more than all La Liga, Serie A, Ligue 1 and Bundesliga clubs by buy soccer picks combined.


What does the future hold for Chelsea if they sign players to eight-year contracts? If after a few seasons they don`t perform very well, how will they get rid of them? Or, if they succeed, they will look at the market situation and want new contracts and even more money.

Manchester City spend a lot of money, but they have a lot of experience working with different managers. Manchester United is a great example of the flip side of this. If you look at their transfer spending over the last ten years, there is not much difference between them and Manchester City.


As for Chelsea, Graham Potter must not understand what is happening. `You can pretend he`s delighted with the big team and signing all these great players, but he`ll be worried about his job, ` the former Liverpool player told Overlap Live Fan Debate.
