The ATP has completed an investigation into Alexander Zverev, who was accused of domestic violence by his ex-girlfriend Olga Sharypova.


A major independent investigation into Alexander Zverev found insufficient evidence to support the published allegations of abuse. As a result, the ATP will not take any disciplinary action.


An investigation initiated by the ATP in October 2021? considered charges of domestic violence brought by Zverev`s ex-girlfriend Olya Sharypova. While the investigation focused on alleged violations that occurred at the 2019 Shanghai Masters, it also included alleged violations in Monaco, New York and Geneva, the statement said.


The investigation was conducted by The Lake Forest Group (LFG), which specializes in protecting employees from workplace violence.


LFG interviewed Sharypova and Zverev, as well as 24 other people, including family, friends, tennis players and others associated with the ATP. The company examined materials provided by Sharypova and Zverev: messages, audio and photos, including materials voluntarily extracted from Zverev`s electronic devices with the help of a third-party forensic expert.


The company also examined materials related to the tournament analyzed by soccer websites list in Shanghai, documents provided by third-party witnesses, posts on social networks and press reports.


Following an exhaustive 15-month investigation, LFG has provided a full report to the ATP. Due to the lack of reliable evidence and eyewitness accounts, as well as contradictory statements from Sharypova, Zverev and other interviewees, the investigation was unable to substantiate allegations of abuse or failure to comply with ATP rules regarding on-court violations or serious player misconduct.


The statement noted that the ATP may review the decision if new evidence emerges or if violations of ATP rules are revealed during the trial.


The ATP also said it had commissioned an independent safety review in October 2021 to protect all adults and minors in men`s professional tennis from abuse. The association recently hired a security director to oversee implementation of the report`s recommendations.
